Ok, just maybe there is a Lord God Bird. Anything seems possible after a night when the Mets score 10 runs. Of course, being an Irish American, I have to point out they scored the runs off a very young pitcher who was left far too long in the game, because La Russa ( the Cards' manager) wanted to have his bullpen rested for the weekend series against the Cubs. If the Mets and Cards were competing for a division title or wild card spot, the Cardinals would not have given their bullpen any rest.
So, do I believe in the Lord God Bird, and the Mets' rebirth? I am not sure. Let's see what happens this weekend against the Phillies. Will the Mets follow a slug fest with their usual shutout or one run loss? Did those naturalists really see the Ivory Billed Woodpecker?
